As anyone who has previously been involved in a legal dispute will be aware, the costs of any legal action can rapidly mount and within a family law setting it is not unusual for disputes about finances or arrangements for the children to cost well in excess of £10,000-£20,000 per person.
At Godalming Family Mediation we offer competitive rates whilst also offering a very high quality service. Our standard hourly rate is £100 per person per hour in the Godalming office (with no VAT or other charges to pay) and our London rate is £175 per person per hour (which includes room booking fees), with the final cost invariably representing only a small fraction of the cost of resolving matters through solicitors or the courts.
We aim to reach a conclusion to the mediation process within approximately 2 to 4 sessions of 2 hours each. Depending upon the nature of the issues, it may be necessary for some documents to be drafted to set out the outcomes of the mediation process, for which the same hourly rate is charged and it can be expected that this will take approximately 2 to 4 hours per person to prepare.
It is important to understand that in more complicated cases it may be necessary to run additional sessions whilst it may also be possible to facilitate agreements within a single session for more straightforward matters and we are committed to keeping you updated on the likely costs on a regular basis.
There are also some situations where it may be helpful to have a second mediator present during some or all of the sessions, in which case there will be an increased hourly charge to a total of £150 per person per hour in the Godalming office and £200 per person per hour (plus room booking fees) in London, for the hours during which both mediators are involved. If the original mediator feels that a second mediator may be required, perhaps to bring in some specialist expertise or to ensure that the room dynamics are balanced, then the mediator will ensure that this is discussed carefully with both clients before any decisions are taken about this issue.
Please also note that, whilst our main office is in Godalming where we can run mediation sessions on a very flexible basis on any day including during the evenings, we also have access to a number of other locations in the Surrey and London area, either with a sole mediator or with a second mediator also present, so please contact us in order that we can discuss your particular needs.
